Re: How young is too young for GYNFrom: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 11 Apr 2002 10:40:49 -0700 (PDT)
Anon, I do understand what you are saying but I have a question. What if a teenage girl doesn't feel comfortable with the idea of going to a male gyn when her mother talks to her about needing to go to the gyn and the only way that she will go is if it's to a woman gyn? I've seen both male and female gyns and for me I had more problems with the male gyns in getting diagnosed when I was having problems with endo. Not every dr (male or female) is right for everyone. One needs to go to a dr that they feel more comfortable with and I know that for me I'm more comfortable with a female dr, and I think that one of the other girls mentioned that too that for teens starting out with seeing a female gyn that they may be more comfortable seeing a female one instead of a male. Sorry that I can't remember right now which one said that but regardless of what the choice is if you do decide to take her Dee I hope that you all find the answer to whatever is going on real soon. I'm headed back to bed shortly b/c my dog decided he had to wake me up. ===== Kristy :) Unit Clerk for Mother/Baby Dept at Shands Jacksonville, Jacksonville, FL http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Hoping to be a nurse soon but for now just a Medical Secretary who does a lot of learning from reading on the Net, books, my dr(s), as well as sharing my own personal experiences.
