Re: Cronic CervicitisFrom: Marta (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 5 Apr 2002 10:28:02 -0600 (CST)
I am not a doctor, but I was diagnosed with HPV at 21. Chronic cervicitis is a constant inflammation of the cervix, probably leading to increased discharge, etc.. The squamous DISPLASIA means abnormal cell growth - ie warts, precancer, etc. There are levels of displasia from like 1 to 4 or 5 with the high end being invasive cancer. My doc told me to think of it as levels of severity and depth - like burn levels. If you doc says these are ok, it probably is, but I'd get a pap every 3-6 mos until you show no more HPV. You didn't mention what treatment he recommended to get rid of it or what else he told you, but if you're not getting the answers you want, you might want to find a different doc! Good luck! Marta
