U am 26 and breastfeeding my 6 month old daughter. A month ago,I received an injection of depo-provera for the first time. This is the first time I have ever used birth control.Iwas told the possible side affects vary, but the most common was irregular bleeding.I have experienced a constant period every day since the shot was administered.Other symptoms are:fatigue and weakness, inability to sleep, claminess, severe vaginal dryness and yeast infection-like symptoms that occur after sex(which is very rare),to be specific i mean burning sensation in the vagina. The worst of these is the bleeding, although it is light to medium flow. Iam experiencing extreme mood swing, which are worse than in pregnancy.Very irrational feelings.Possibly deppresive in an on and off way, which is extremely frustrating to myself and husband.Thes symptoms seemed to have progressed. Inotified the office that saw me and they recommended I not take it anymore and that i go in to get on birth control pills now. i went to the office and reminded them I was breastfeeding and would be for at least a year and they said I could not take the pill. So, I went home with no solution and was told there was nothing I could do or take.I am concerned about my mental and physical health and the symptoms that I am experiencing. My other concern is the affects on breastfeeding. It seems that there are many more side affects than what I was told, so I am hoping there are possible solution as well to the problems I am having. Thank You, Alanna Mccoy
