Andrea,

Chances are, you are protected, but it is best to wait a full cycle before you stop using a back up method. It has been said on the forum if you start the pack on the first day of your period, you are protected immediately, otherwise a back up method needs to be used for a full month.

You will probably get your period within three to five days of starting the placebo pills. If you don't get a period, then take a pregnancy test.

If you are not in a monogamous relationship, you should always use condoms to help prevent STD's, which include, but not limited to Herpes, HPV, and the deadly one, HIV/AIDS.
