It was the Dr. and the Mammograms that picked up the lump, not the patient. It was the Dr. that picked up one of the lumps in my breast (I found the other...it was at the same time and they were close to each other), which thankfully were benign. So doing your own breast exam is not a reason to not go to the Dr. I personally feel the Dr. is trained well to perform the Pap Smear, breast exam and other things that go along with an annual exam. I am not. Yes, I do know how to examine my breasts, but evidently, not well enough, since I missed something. True, there are false positives with pap smears, but you are acting as if this test you describe is 100% infalible. I am sure it has it's own false positives as well. I do remember this coming up on the list before, and I do not recall anyone being "blasted." I've been on this forum a very long time, and know the Drs. quite well from being here, and they don't "blast" people. If you don't care for the way you were treated, you have every right to contact your own MD. The Drs. are here to help people, and they do it on their free time, what little they have. They neglect their families for the forums, and the last thing they need to is to be told they "blasted" someone, when they did not.
