Placenta Attached to Fibroid

I am 20 weeks along in my pregnancy. The placenta has attached directly on top of a growing fibroid. At 18 weeks, the fibroid was measuring about 6 cm. We have been told that there is a risk of placenta abruptio (detachment) or that the baby may not be receiving enough oxygen or nutrition. Is there anything that can be done to help us? Is there anything that I can do, as far as activity level, diet, etc. to improve our baby's chances of health and survival? Also. our OB/GYN speaks of the high probability of a hysterectomy. Is this necessary or are there other treatments?
