spontaneous early abortion on orthotrycyclenFrom: Cee (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 23 Mar 2002 03:06:32 -0600 (CST)
Hi Everyone, I haven't been on this forum in so long, as work has kept me especially busy. A special hello to Kristy, Robin & Maggie... glad to see you gals are still here and as helpful and wonderful as ever! I have a question: I am on orthotrycyclen (for a year now), and this was my 2nd week of a pack of pills, when 2 days ago I experienced breakthrough bleeding (or what I thought was breakthrough bleeding)(in over a year on the pill I have never once experienced breakthrough bleeding). I have never missed a pill and I always take it at the same time every day. And actually, yesterday I was passing largeish chunks of what look like pieces of tissue... unlike anything I have ever seen in a normal period. I have read up a bit on orthotrycyclen and birth control pills in general, and I read how they work is to prevent you from ovulating, but if you do ovulate and the egg is fertilized, the pills prevent implantation to the womb. If this is the case, could the passing of the bits of tissue be just that... a fertilized egg and lining of the uterus b/c implantation couldn't occur. Just wanted to get some thoughts, especially a Dr's perspective. And, should I quit taking the pill now and wait until the bleeding stops (i.e. treat it like a week on my period) before I start again with a new pack of pills.) And if I do wait out the bleeding, should I just wait 7 days and then start a new pack (if the bleeding lasts that long), or should I wait until the bleeding is completely over. Thanks in advance for any advice, Cee :)
