desperate for answersFrom: Angie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 19 Mar 2002 17:20:32 -0600 (CST)
hello. i'm just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on my problems. my question is whether a hysterectomy will help me. here is my history. i'm 25 years old. i have what could be considered severe PCOS, depeniding on what doctor you talk to. i had very, very severe cystic acne. i took accutane three times. i still battle with cystic acne. i have severe hirsutism, hair loss on my head (comes out in clumps). i have no period, sometimes i do but it maybe lasts for a couple hours. an MRI showed enlarged, cystic ovaries. i have severe rosacea, so severe are the flare-ups it put me in the ER. my face and eyes swell up, it looks like i've been burned and my skin breaks out in acne. my period, if i get one, tends to set off a lot of these problems. other problems i have are a neuromuscular disease, related to Parkinson's disease (been in a wheelchair since 15 yrs. old), and severe scoliosis. the medicines i take are Aldactone and Metrocream for the rosacea. i am going in for a consultation about Photoderm treatments for the rosacea. i want to be relieved of my hell. i have a lot of problems and am very depressed and tired. i have never been to an OBGYN before, but i just want to know if a partial hysterectomy will help. i think if i can get *no periods* it will alleviate this pre-menstrual crap i go through. i never want children. i heard a partial one won't cause me more hormone problems, but will rid me of my period and thus get rid of the painful flare-ups i experience. thank you, Angie
