[Birth Control] PCOS

I am a twenty one year old Caucasian female with a dilemma.

An OB/GYN recently diagnosed me as having PCOS since I have excessive hair, mild acne, and difficulty losing weight. Last year for about six months I also had irregular periods. Now I am regular again. This physician reviewed my levels of FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. According to her, there was nothing wrong with my hormone levels or the ratios of the hormones. Given that I have regular periods and normal hormone ratios, is it possible that I don't have PCOS? Couldn't the excessive hair, mild acne, and difficulty losing weight be explainable in some other way?

Also she prescribed Yasmine birth control as treatment. Is it likely that I will gain weight, become depressed, or have other serious side effects from this medication?

Thanks!
