[Birth Control] Mirena and Acne

I would like to hear some stories about changing from Ortho Tri-Cyclen to Mirena. I am 31 and have a history of acne problems. I used Ortho Novum 7-7-7 from the age of 18 to 24 with very little acne. I had 2 Depo-Provera shots which really screwed me up--acne, irritability, low sex drive, weight gain, etc. I returned to Ortho Novum 7-7-7 but the acne remained until I switched to Ortho Tri-Cyclen a few years ago and started a very thorough Biomedic acne skin care program. I would like to switch to Mirena because I'm married, we don't want kids any time in the next five years, and I have not been so good with taking pills on time lately.

My main concern is that Mirena uses the same "family" of hormone as Depo-Provera. I know that it is a very low dose but acne is listed as a side effect. Have any patients had a similar history as me? Are the chances of an acne relapse very likely? Did the acne subside after a few months?

Thank you for any information that you can give!
