I think you are right about personal preference but the reason that some drs choose to do it during the woman's cycle is so that can try to catch it in action but I think that the reason that a number of drs may choose not to do a lap during a woman's period is like Kim said it may be harder to see the implants. I know that when I had my very first lap it was two weeks before my period. With my last lap in 1999 I didn't have an actual period as far as outward signs but my dr said that when she was doing my lap she found some fluid in my uterus, sent it off to the lab to find out why b/c there shouldn't be any fluid if you are on continuous bcp but I don't know how exactly true that is though. The reason why is b/c when she got the results of that fluid it showed up as normal so that meant that even though I was on continuous bcp I had a cycle. She explained to me that although I wasn't bleeding out like if I had a period that I could still have a cycle on continuous and that's what happened to me.
