Treatment for EctropionFrom: Libby (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 14 Feb 2002 15:05:46 -0600 (CST)
I've posted recently leading up to this, here's a brief recap and a question: 36 yrs old, 2 kids - started spotting after intercourse 4 mos. ago (following laparoscopy for adhesions/uterine suspension). Last week I saw my Gyn for the spotting as well as for increasing cycle pain and irregularity - he said I have a cervical ectropion, we did a pap and he indicated if the pap was negative he'd like to do cryosurgery for the ectropion (yes, it's a problem for me, I spot for several hours after intercourse EVERY time as well as after heavy exercise). Today he called and told me that the pap was negative, then told me to go on the pill for 2 months and then after that we'd see about doing the cryo procedure. My understanding when I saw him last week was I was going to do the pill for 2 months for the irregular cycle and pain, not to address the ectropion (2 different situations, right?). Can being on the pill fix the ectropion, or is it possible that it will clear up on its own and that's why we wait another 2 months? I'm a bit confused and not sure if it's something I should call back about. Sorry this is long, I appreciate any insight you might have. Thanks, Libby
