Re: [Birth Control] When is bad - bad enough?From: clare (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 14 Feb 2002 08:35:56 -0600 (CST)
Hi Rita: I had an endometrial ablation in August. I had extremely heavy bleeding. My ferritin was low, and I had to wear adult diapers for several days every month. My doctor tried a drug to help me clot, but it was mostly unsuccessful. I feel that even though my gyn is very caring, perhaps I was left to bleed way too much way too long (years)by my GP. Perhaps it was partly my fault, as I'm pretty quiet and maybe I wasn't vocal enough. I was bleeding 21 days a month some months. The ablation was a wonderful success. They used a triangular shaped electrode (I'm sorry, I forget what it was called) rather than the baloon. Now I do not bleed. The goal of an ablation is less bleeding, but I was one of the lucky ones. ;) An ablation is recommended for heavy bleeding, and if your doctor recommends it and the bleeding is intolerable, it is a possible solution. Best wishes.
