Kristy.. in regards to lupron replyFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 13 Feb 2002 18:56:16 -0600 (CST)
Kristy, Hi there. Hope this finds you well. GYN only prefers to do the Lupron for 2 months, because she doesn't feel I need to keep taking the shot if it works for the pain. If it works for the pain I am having, then she knows there is some form of Endo present somewhere. She says because I am done having children, have had a Tubal Ligation, Oopherectomy and my fertility is not an issue, she would like to perform a Hysterectomy on me instead of keeping me on hormones for the rest of my life. She is well informed about my history, as I have been seeing her for the past 2 years. I do not know what will come out of this, but am reading all I can right now so I can be informed and will be ready to discuss options with her and or make decisions about my health care and my body. In regards to a Hyterectomy, I would prefer the partial to keep my cervix. I have read this helps in minimizing prolapse. I have a good couple months before this decision needs to be made. I have had this pain pretty regularily for the past 12 years and have about had enough with it. Im sure you can understand where I am coming from. :) A question about Lupron tho.. I haven't been able to find this anywhere. I know it stops the ovary or ovaries from producing hormones and shuts them down. I know about the mood swings, hot flashes, decreased lubrication, etc. But, does it stop or slow down hair growth? Sush as pubic, facial, underarm and leg? I would think it would, as this is what happens during menopause.. and meopause is what Lupron causes. Thanks. Hugs, Amy
