Re: Pain Mangement? Only Option Left For Me? (Update)From: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 13 Feb 2002 10:58:56 -0600 (CST)
Sarah, Thanks for the reply once again. This isn't scary for me cause of side effects, just because I haven't had to deal with taking Lupron before. I have complete faith and trust in my gyn (which is the most important factor). She has the years of medical school and experience behind her, not me. The main reason why she is only going to try the Lupron for 2 months is because of the side effects (hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and bone loss). Tho she said she could take it as far as 6 months, if needed. She is more apt to just remove my uterus, rather than to continue with the Lupron. I decided to look up Lurpon on yahoo, and read through several different suggested sites that it can cause an increase in pain at first, lasting a few days to a couple weeks at most, till hormones bottom out and shot takes full effect. Did you experience an increase in your pain? I will be asking whoever gives me the shot if this can be expected, and if so.. I am getting some pain meds. I do not have a very high tolerance for pain at all. Menstrual cramps can drive me to taking Narcotics. Tho this has not been the case since the Oopherectomy. Just the persistent pain. I asked dr if it was possible for something to be inside the uterus and cause this pain on the side, she said its not normally the case, but she has seen it happen (just by womens symptoms disappearing). Tho she has never really "seen microscopic endo" she said of course it is always possible. She has never really LOOKED into my uterus, just Ultrasounds (last one Sept 2001) which was normal. I can't stop thinking that this is the case. Tho now.. if you have read my other post about being late, I still have not gotten my period aka breakthrough bleeding. It was due late Monday night, early in the day on Tuesday. She is not concerned about this, and I told her I could care less if I get it or not LOL. Anyways.. thanks. Will post an update after I get the shot. If you have any more info for me, please share it with me.
