[Birth Control] Missed periods

For the past year and a half, I was getting two periods a month due to birth control/hormonal problems. Finally my Doctor switched me to a pill that seemed to stop the two periods a month. However, a couple months ago, I got two periods (with a couple days break in between) so, as my Doctor advised me to do, I skipped the "dummy" pills to try to get my cycle back on track the next month. It has been two months and I haven't gotten any period. I am not pregnant either. My periods were always normal prior to going on the pill and the first 2 years on it. The problem happened when i had to switch to a generic version of the pill I was on. Does this happen to a lot of women? Should I see a different Doctor?

Thanks!
