Montgomery, MD: "Re: [Birth Control] Alesse and side effects" I have recently started my 4th month on Alesse. Previously I was taking Ortho-tricyclen, but found that I became quite depressed. I am less depressed on Alesse, but I find that I am considerably more on edge and apt to mood swings than when I am not taking birth control at all. In addition, on Alesse my sex drive has decreased substantially. I did not notice this while I was taking Ortho-tricyclen.
