LAST POST LOST Ct -IBD, abdominal wall mass ( recurrent endometrioma)? From: RareEndo (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 2 Feb 2002 23:25:42 -0600 (CST)
Basically this is a two part discussion question. Brief history is c-section 4/95 laparoscopy 7/98 c-section 6/99 abdominal surgery 6/2000. The last surgery was biopsy suspected lymph node in the abdominal wall, poss hernia. The questionable node on CT and surgery proved to be a baseball sized endometrioma on the abdominal wall/muscle. No hernia. I had mesh and tacks 10x10cm in place to repair the defect and a drain. I never had real relief from this surgery was told pain now from the mesh getting settled and pain from the muscle being excised. Recently saw a general surgeon and ob/gyn for possibly recurring endometriosis in the same area. I do not have pelvic endo (proven at lap in 98 anyway). I've done all other non surgical treatments without relief. (Including Lupron, Continuous BCP etc) 3 weeks ago I had another CT scan which showed a mass approx 3-4cm diameter in the same area as the mesh. Instead of going in and getting the mass out the surgeon is going to perform a needle aspiration to see if it is an endometrioma or something else ie: infected mesh. Would the needle aspiration cause if an endometrioma spreading?????? Secondly on the CT scan there is shown an area of bowel thickening. I'm having also done a small bowel follow through to rule out IBD. Is there anything other than (too much contrast in the CT - doubtful) or IBD that would result in thickening of the bowel. I've had this before but was told without full evaluation I had IBS probably because of the endo and previous health issues.
