Physicians, I need your opinion, please!From: Connie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 2 Feb 2002 20:42:46 -0600 (CST)
Hello: I have a friend who is going through a pretty rough time. Last Nov, she had surgery with Dr. Cook in San Francisco, CA and he found adhesions, endo fourhernias. He lysed the adhesions, excised the endo and also repaired the hernias. She did great and felt great! However, on the way home from the airport (we live in Western PA), she and her husband hit a deer, the airbag hit her at the surgical site and she had a lot of pain. She had to fly back to California and Dr. Cook did a lap and had to re-repair one of the hernia's. Once again, she felt great! About a month or so after this she was doing some light housework and reached up to dust something and she felt a "tearing" sensation which brought immediate pain. She called Dr. Cook and he suggested she follow-up with her gyne at home. Her home gyne felt that the repair had come undone again and referred her to a general surgeon. The surgeon had to do another hernia repair. She continues to have severe pain that is unrelieved with any type of pain med. She is seeing a pain management physician who tried a block, this made it worse. He is suggesting that there is neuroma present. My question for her is: How do they find the neuroma and can it be removed?? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
