I have recently had an U/S which showed that I have an 8 cm intermural fibroid. I have few symptoms but I'm concerned about the size. I have read a lot about the various treatment options on the net but I'm still unsure about which treatment to choose (if any). The gyno I went to see suggested a myomectomy but I have lots of reservations about the procedure such as adhesions, blood loss and the long recovery period. My GP thought I was the "ideal candidate" for a hysterectomy!! I feel angry about this because no other alternatives were not discussed. This is out of the question and I would only view the procedure as a last resort. I am seeking a referral to a surgeon or gyno who is skilled in alternative treatments, up-to-date with the latest procedures and feels the same way as I do re: a hysterecomy. I hope someone can help.
