Re: Perineal pain after Thermal Balloon Ablation

Hi Kathleen:

I had an endometrial ablation to treat severe bleeding in Aug, and it was a great success. I'm not a doctor, but my understanding is that an ablation is to treat heavy bleeding only, and will not help with pain. I had hoped that as the ablation was a success, that my pain tolerance would have increased (due to not being as tired from blood loss) but that was only a dream!

I had a new experimental (for my hospital in Canada) type of ablation - it used a triangular shaped electrode (I can't for the life of me remember what it's called). I was put to sleep, and it did hurt that evening.

My gyn very clearly told me that the ablation would not help with my pain, and he was correct. I have not bled since, so for bleeding it worked very well. Perhaps you may wish to get a second opinion before having a procedure which may not work for your pain. Best wishes.
