Odd change in periodsFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 30 Jan 2002 22:09:11 -0600 (CST)
BACKGROUND: I just turned 40 this month. 1 child from only pregnancy, born 5/98. Endometriosis confirmed via laproscopic surgery at age 22, but showed small back then. No treatments for it, and not on bc pills very long due to side effects. Diagnoised w/ BV right before pregnancy (1997) and it lasted thru out pregnancy w/ several treatments. Dr told me I would just have to learn to live with BV. I do, but it is a bother, sometimes painful and currently heavy discharge builds prior to next period (then seems to be less after flow). Last GYN appt (6 months ago) was told there's another polyp which he recommends removing (3 were removed about a year ago--one was found during pregnancy and 2 additional grew sometime later) For the last 3 periods, I go thru all the normal body changes, right down to a predictable ovulation. (I am not on the pill). PMS is right on schedule (this is also a new thing since birth of child). Swollen boobs and bloated belly follow suit. Then on initial day of what should be my period, besides feeling like it is the first day of my period, the only sign I have is just a pink tinted discharge. I am miserable, swollen and really in rotten mood. My belly's so swollen it hurts. Then about 3-4 days after initial date (and days of "pink")flow finially starts in a gush. Last full week pretty heavily. Typically I will be constipated during this waiting time and everything is fine after the flow starts. First time this happened thought maybe a pregnancy, but all test were negative. This is my third month doing the same thing. Any ideas of what might be going on?
