>>>Thank you for your reply...If someone has had a history of freq. herpes outbreaks (10-12x/year) does it neccessarily mean they will have as many during pregnancy? If not, why? Do you reccommend taking an antiviral drug during the last trimester and if so which are 'safer'?

I have heard that suppressive therapy for herpes sometimes causes the virus to 'adapt' and become 'stronger' and less responsive to antiviral medication. Is there any truth to this? I was on suppressive therapy for about 2 years, about 8 years ago, and a gyn. recommeded me stop. I definately don't have major outbreaks but they are frequent, about once a month. Have you heard of ViraDerm? Oxygen therapy? Thanks again Dr. Wang!
