Holly, I too developed a rectal vaginal fistula after delivering my daughter, 2 1/2 years ago. I've since had 2 surgeries, both unsuccessful. You are so fortunate that yours was corrected the first time and after all the reading I've done on this, that seems to be uncommon. If I were you, I would absolutely have a c-section for your second child- don't take the risk! I had a c-section with my first baby and the recovery was easy compared to the 4th degree tear and resulting fistula I suffered from my second baby. You also mentioned the emotional trauma you don't want to endure again-I can relate to this because 2 1/2 years later, I'm still living with a fistula and dealing with the emotional scars. Look after yourself and have a c-section!
