Is this my period coming?

To give some background: I stopped Marvellon after 8 years back in Oct, and haven't had a period since my last pill-induced period on Oct 26. I'm not pregnant, I have done HPT, and a urine test at a clinc last night which confirmed the negative results. On Dec 7 I had spotting for 1 day, then it dried up.

10 days ago I got a yeast infection. The discharge was white, thick, had consistency like ricotta cheese, and had no significant odor. I bought some Canesten, 3 day treatment off the shelf and started applying at night. On day 2 of treatment when I woke up the canesten discharge was light pink. On day 3 of treatment my panties were bright red in the morning. The itiching got worse, not better.

Since then I have had itiching, but no significant bleeding or discharge. But the light spotting had me concerned because it was dark brown and clotted. I visited a clinic last night, and the Dr. gave me a urine pregnancy test, which was negative. She tested my urine for infection and found nothing, just a little blood). She did a vaginal exam and didn't seem concerned, she thought I was getting my period. She said there was a lot of blood, and that it was coming out of the uterus. She thought that I was getting my period. I feel like I am getting my period, I am having the same light cramping, but there's no significant bleeding! and when any spotting does come out, it's dark brown and clotted. She gave me some canesten cream with 1% hydro-something for the itiching, to apply twice daily.

This doesn't seem natural to me. Should I be concerned about this, or should I just wait it out?
