Two points, Zoe,

Just because something is listed as a side effect, doesn't mean it will happen to everyone. If it happened to one person out of say 100,000 people trying the medication (just pulling a number out of the air), they have to list it as a side effect.

I was just as the Yasmin website (http://www.yasmin.com) for another poster today, and it does say it can elevate the potassium level in your blood, so the company recommends after the first month of treatment with Yasmin, a blood test be done to check the potassium level.
