How long and i going to have it? Thanks >!!!!!!!! Hi there, "Breakthrough bleeding" is when women have vaginal bleeding between menstrual periods. Why? I think it is probably related to the new hormones in your birth control pills. You probably will not have it for too long (until your body becomes acclaimated to the pills, maybe 1-3 months) , although some women always have spontaneous bleeding on BCP's. You can always switch BCP's if you're really having problems with Ortho Tri Cyclen (I think that's what you said you were on! ) Probably wait 3 months and and then, if you still have spontaneous bleeding switch to a higher dosage.
