last night i went to my boyfriends house and gave him a peck on the lips and then i noticed a swollen bump on his lower lip. i asked what it was and he said it might be a cold sore. i am totally furious with him for not telling me because i have never gotten one and now im afraid i will get one and be getting them for the rest of my life. i dont even know if i will get one yet or if i should be freaking out like this. i am EXTREMELY phobic of germs and diseases and am really freaking out. i have never had a cold sore before and now im scared to kiss him again or have oral sex again or anything. ive even considered breaking up with him since im not sure i can deal with this appropriately. how do people deal with these virus things since you have them forever?

i need some medical advice about what i should do in the future. can i get it if he doesnt have the open sore or can i catch one even if he is having no symptoms? should i assume he probably has it in the genital regions too since its probably likely he has been more careless than i would be? ive never dated anyone who had this before. any personal advice from other readers on what to do would also be appreciated. maybe im making too much of this but i just dont know.

thanks
