Multiglandular HyperplasiaFrom: KE (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 16 Jan 2002 17:00:06 -0600 (CST)
Hello- I recently underwent a colposcopic biopsy after obtaining an abnormal pap smear result. The biopsy report read, "Cervical biopsy showing metaplasia and microglandular hyperplasia. Negative for dysplasia or HPV changes." I have a few questions regarding this. 1.) Is this primarily considered a benign condition which must be watched, or does it signify pre-malignant change ? 2.) An endocervical curettage was recommended as follow-up. Is this a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure ? What will the examiner be looking for ? 3.) Will this present any problems should I wish to have children ? (I am currently young and want kids someday). 4.) Is it safe to be taking birth control pills, such as Allesse ? Will this make the condition worse ? 5.) Will taking daily B-complex vitamins help at all ? I would appreciate any responses. Thank you.
