Re: Need Help Finding A Doctor - I see a NM doc - AMandaFrom: Sarah (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 15 Jan 2002 13:00:21 -0600 (CST)
Hi Amanda, The doctor's name was Ben Daitz MD and I saw him at the St. Joe's Rehab center. I was referred to him by another doc at the rehab hospital since one of his specialities is treating myofascial trigger points. Studies have shown that chronic visceral (internal organ) pain can refer into the abdominal muscles ... the muscles react to this by knotting up or forming painful trigger points. Dr. Daitz had studied this with a doc from Johns Hopkins (I'm am trying to recall his name ... I met him and he is a neurologist who has studied myofascial trigger points causing chronic pain... I will probably remember his name tomorrow). Anyway, I definately had trigger points in my lower ab muscles as well as glute muscles. Dr. Daitz would inject a small amount of anesthetic into the exact trigger point area and do some massage and the difference in my pain level would be amazing. However, since I still had the internal problem, when my next period would roll around all the trigger points would come back. The muscle were so tight that they were pulling my pelvis funny and causing all sort of secondary aches and pains. The bottom line is that the pelvic congestion, endo and adeno were causing so much constant pain that it was causing trigger points in my muscles. Fixing the muscles was only temporary since the source was still there to cause the problem again and again. If you want to email me directly I can tell you about my long history (since 1985). sblumen@home.com
