This happens to me occasionally, also, and my doctor said this is normal and due to a lack of ovulation as the egg supply dwindles as we age. That painful biopsy may not be needed. The herb called vitex or chasteberry can be used to regulate progesterone levels during perimenopause. You could consult with a naturopath that works with herbs about this or read up on it yourself.
