This really depends upon the physician and your physical exam or more specifically your laparoscopic findings from when you were staged with stage IV endo. There are two possible approaches; if your physician feels that the endo can throughout the pelvis can be adequately addressed via laparoscopy, then a laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy can be done without an abdominal incision. If, on the other hand, your physician feels that the involvement of the endo throughout the pelvis (i.e. bowel involvement) is too extensive to be dealt with through a laparoscope, he/she may feel that an open or abdominal hysterectomy is necessary...
