I experienced the same thing when weaning my children. After extreme pain and engorging, I was told by my dr's nurse to express just a little milk to relieve the pain, but not too much as my body would begin to produce more. Sorry to say, but this lasted for 3 days before I dried up. Cold compresses seemed to help, not hot as they made me leak then produce milk again. Good luck.
