Fibroids, Polyps, Uterine Bleeding, Depo and PremarinFrom: Bess (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 30 Dec 2001 16:46:42 -0600 (CST)
I'm 43 and have virtually bled continously, since starting depo-provera a year ago. I've had ruptured ovarian cysts and emergency surgery for excessive bleeding/fibroids previously. An ultrasound found a 1/2" fibroid pushing the wall out and an endo biopsy found indications of polyps plus the lining contained prosterin (?) (from the depo I'm assuming). There is tenderness, moderate discomfort and occasionly sharp pains at the top of the uterus. I've been prescribed Premarin 1.25 to take for 10 days to control the bleeding. I'm in good health other than very high choloestrol. With both a fibroid, possible polyps and a 'history', why hormone replacement? I've looked all over the web for information and it just makes me more confused. My Dr., before and after the endo biopsy, determined the sole cause to be Depo-Provera and whether it's her explanation or me 'being dumb' - I just don't understand all of this.
-- Thank you any help is making me comfortable with this.
