painful lymph nodes?From: Mindy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 20 Dec 2001 03:43:13 -0600 (CST)
For the past several years - when I haven't been pregnant - I have had several painful and swollen "spots" in my armpits. I think these may be lymph nodes - but when I talked to my OB about them - he thinks they might be breast tissue. THe spots become painful in a cyclic manner, but at no specific time in my menstrual cycle - this time, I have one spot under my left armpit, and my cycle began 12/10/01 (first cycle since giving birth 10/30/01). This spot is swollen, about the size of a pea, painful when I flex my muscle, and my skin is red right over the location. Sometimes the spots are present at different times in my cycle, and they are painful for about 2-3 days. It seems to me that the flare up of these spots may be hormonal? My OB wasn't particularly concerned, but I wonder about possible cancer? Any possible suggestions as to the cause and treatment of this? Thanks in advance for your help! :)
