My mother is getting older and is going through menopause..she asked me to find out a few answers to her questions. I'm looking for information on what she calls the "natural progression" -- she wants to know what will happen to her in the next few years correlating to menstration. She is just starting menopause and is still having infrequent periods. She wants to know if the hormone replacement therapy that she has just been put on (brand name Femhrt) will give her a regular period or if it will just cause breakthrough bleeding.

Furthermore, I think she would like to know what hormone replacement therapy will do to her on a long term basis. She was to told to get off birth control at the age of 35 and is now basically being put back on it (as her doctor has told her) and I think is a bit wary.

Thank you for your help!
