I have read that breakthru on days 1-9 indicate need for more estrogen component, breakthru days 10-21 indicate need for more progestin. I would assume your "mid-cycle" would correspond to the days 10-21 category. You could try Modicon (or Brevicon) which have 25% more progestin. If that doesn't work, you might try a different pill, but I don't think you need a higher estrogen one.
