Re: Heavy bleeding - what next?

I too have had uncontrollable heavy bleeding. I think first of all the gynae needs to work out whats causing it, but there are options. Tranexamic acid or mefenamic acid (postan) can help control heavy bleeding and reduce pain. Mirena coil is an option if you have had kids. If you have finished your childbearing there is an operation called an ablation (kind of like a permanent d+c - they take off the lining of the womb). I think this would be a last resort, you have to try all the medical ways first. I wish you the best of luck, I know how hard it is. Lisa xxx Ps It can take several weeks for the pill to benefit you - sometimes months - stick at it! At Mon, 10 Dec 2001, Sharon wrote: >
