Kelly Shanahan, MD, FACOG: "Re: Essential Thrombocyctosis" I was scheduled for Ovarian Cautery a few weeks ago but the pre-op tests results showed that my platelets were 1 million.. I was immediately scheduled for a bone marrow aspiration and biopsy.. all the other cells are perfectly normal.. only the platelets were high.. I found out today that I have Essential Thrombocyctosis.. I also have PCOS, hense the reason for the ovarian cautery :).. I have done lots of reading online.. but I was wondering if anyone has had any personal experience with ET in combination with PCOS? I am 41 years old and have been trying to conceive for over 10 years.. I was diagnosed with PCOS in Dec, 2000.. I am currently taking 1000mg/day Metformin.. I would also like to know if anyone has or knows of someone who has had a sucessful pregnancy with ET?? I am waiting on an appointment to see a hemotologist and high risk OB to discuss treatment.. but it would help to have some info going in.. Thank you..
