I have the same thing also on my left side and it swells up and can be very painful from the time I ovulate each cycle until my period begins. I went to my Doctor about this a while ago and even had an X-ray. Nothing showed up and the Doctor believes that it is simply breast tissue that extends out under my arm. When my breasts get tender before my period so does my left armpit. I've also heard that women with this condition will often leak breast milk from hteir armpit after having a baby because the breast tissue there also contains milk ducts. Wierd huh! It would be best to get it checked just in case but it sounds very similar to what I have. Hope this helps some!
