Estrogen dominance and offsetting with progestins

Are there other treatments for estrogen dominance other than progestins.

I had a d & c & hysterscope in Sept that showed I wasn't producing progestin in the last half of my cycle, which is why I was bleeding so much, no polyps or fibroids. This was just a confirmation of what both the dr and I figured was happening because of all my other symptoms. I am 38yrs old, had 3 children vaginally. I did take birthcontrol pills for about 10yrs on and off, prior to and between children. At the last birth I had a tubal ligation done. A year later (34yrs old) my bleeding pattern changed and we used medication to try to control it, they all failed at some point.

I had an endometrial ablation done recently but am still concerned about the estrogen. Prior to the ablation I was put on another progestin to thin out my uterus but couldn't stay on it after 5 days, again the side effects.

My dr did say that this may not be the answer, but I did want to try it first before the hysterectomy on the chance that my body will start producing the progestin again, even though I know that the ablation doesn't effect your hormones, or my estrogen will start to drop on it's own.

Could I start to produce progestin again, or is my age a factor? I cannot find too much about it on the web, most articles deal with low estrogen not low progesterone.

There is a history of Dysfunctional uterine bleeding in my family, grandmother, mother, older sister, all who have had hysterectomies for it.

Thanks for any insight you can offer.
