wet mount...From: allison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 25 Nov 2001 12:25:56 -0600 (CST)
went for annual pap, having period so unable to do wet mount to check for yeast/bv, etc. was given boric acid caps and sent home...even though we don't know about yeast because test was not performed. still have yet to receive pap results back. dr. said vaginal tissue was "nice and pink, no sign of irritation, good indicator that all is healthy." I did place one capsule in vagina one night. The next day i was still experiencing discomfort in anal and clitoral region. went to dr. and a wet mount was performed. he thought all looked really clear and no visible signs of infections, test was all negative. no sign of anything. question, could one night of boric acid wipe out anything that would show up on a wet mount, or would this be an indication that there was nothing to start with? i always freak out when i have a pap, i'm worried that it will come back with major abnormalities. it's been 9 months since my last normal pap, previous to that i have had normal paps for nine years, one abnormal previous to the nine years from HPV. are nine years of normal paps somewhat reassuring? trying not to worry about pap, but can't help it. So, boric acid that effective, or would there not have been an infection to begin with? Also, can 9 normal paps be reassuring or is that irrelevent? thanks
