Re: [Birth Control] TriPhasil vs. Ortho-Tri-Cyclen

I'm not sure if I am experiencing side effects or not. Recently I have begun noticing some odd hair growth, I have experienced several UTIs in a short amount of time followed by a bacterial infection that wouldn't go away. I get very depressed around the end of a pill pack and seem to perk right back up as soon as I go back on the pill after the spacers. I have lost wieght but only through serious gym time. I am 26 and still seem to have a problem with acne. Basically it's been 10 yrs and I don't know if these are side effects or just the natural progression of my body. If I knew that OTC wouldn't cause me to gain weight and grow more unwanted hair... I would like to try a change. If i noticed adverse symptoms could I switch back to Triphasil and prevent them or would it be to late at that point? My docotr seems to think there would be no problem but I just started seeing her and am not sure I am completley comfortable with making this change before she gets to know me and my body... it's almost like it's too soon to make a change because she doesn't really know how I respond to what I'm on yet. I could be wrong though. Also she said that I can switch from one to the other and won't have to use a back-up method for the first pill pack. Is this true? I always though you had to use a back-up if you change pills or miss doses or start a pack late. I have been with the same partner for a very long time and neither of us want children so this is a concern as well. Your thoughts would be appreciated. I will of course discuss this further with my personal physician before making and switch. Thanks much. C
