Boric acid is effective, but I would use Terezol first, and Diflucan after that, though I have not seen Terezol fail, at least not in the short term.

Recurrent yeast infections and resistent yeast infections are different entities, with a lot of clinical overlap. A resistent yeast infection is a single infection with a strain of yeast that is very difficult to kill, and so it persists despite treatment. Recurrent yeast infections are multiple occurences of treatable yeast infection, in other words, you treat it, and it goes away, but then returns at a later date. It is this recurrent infection that is associated with immune compromised situations, such as AIDS, diabetes, immuno-suppressive drugs and so on, but the overwhelming majority of women with recurrent infections do not have these conditions, but have some other factor that lowers their vagina's resistance to the endemic yeast that lives there all the time in all women. These can include hormonal irregularities, heavy bleeding, intercourse, use of douches, feminine products, scented soaps and shampoos, use of condoms, not using condoms, semen allergies and sensitivties, just to name a few.
