recurrent vulvar cystsFrom: Melissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 Nov 2001 15:08:14 -0600 (CST)
Hi! I have been wondering about recurrent cysts that I get on my vulva. I have been told that they are sebaceous cysts by my ob-gyn and Planned Parenthood, however no one seems to know much about these. They occur on the inside of the labia, but along the outer part, never on the inner part close to the vaginal opening. They occur often next to the clitoris, and sometimes in the area (prepuce?) above the clitoris. They are generally about pea-size but the size varies. They are sometimes tender to the touch, sometimes not. They are never painful;I could not feel them if I wasn't looking for them. They do not itch or otherwise bother me. Usually I only get one at a time, occasionally there may be more than one. I get about 1 every month, but the time course may vary. I do not notice any correlation with my menstrual cycle or anything else. They gradually decrease in size until they disappear, usually 1-3 weeks. I was just wondering if you agree with this diagnosis, and if there is anything that causes it/may decrease incidence of. Thank you!
-- Melissa
