The poor thing. I'm so truly sorry for all she's gone through at such a
young age.
It can certainly be adhesions. A gastroenterologist needs to become
involved as well as the surgeon (if you don't have them already on the
case, of course). It's obviously gastrointestinal but you need both
specialists to help with what the exact nature of the problem is and who
is needed at a particular time and with certain symptoms, to treat her.
