Since all form of birth control has failed least once, and since oral contraceptive pills to not prevent you from getting sexually transmitted diseases, I believe in the belt and suspenders approach if you really don't want your pants to falloff. I think any time that there is a new type of discharge, especially in the sexually active individual, and examination is appropriate. I would have you see your gynecologist.
