[Birth Control] Antibiotics, Birth Control, and Possible PregnancyFrom: Tiffany (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 6 Nov 2001 21:44:03 -0600 (CST)
I have been on ortho tricyclen for 8 months now and my periods have always come on the same day at practically the same hour. I haven't missed a pill in over 6 months, but my period is late this month. This month I was given 7 days of Macrobid followed by 5 days of Cipro to treat a UTI. I was wondering if these drugs could have lessened the effectiveness of my birth control and caused me to become pregnant? Do I need to call my doctor before I begin my next pill pack? Thank you for your help.
