HysterosonogramFrom: Alice (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Oct 2001 06:55:12 -0600 (CST)
Had a Hysterosonogram done to check my uterine lining. My regular sono showed some thickening. I have been having post coital bleeding on and off. When they did the sonogram with the saline solution my lining was normal and evryting looked good.I asked my Doc if I should have a endometrial biopsy, and she said no, because she saw no abnormalities on this sonogram.I have been reading alot about studies done on Hysterosonograms vs. biopsies. Some feel that this type of sonogram is excellent in ruling out uterine abnormalites.I only have slight bleeding after sex...not any other time in my cycle.I have had all the other tests done to rule out cervical causes. Is the Hysterosono enough,or should I insist on a biopsy? I am told even that can miss a cancer, the only difinitive way is a D+C. I am 39 years old..how many tests should I have done? Alice
