If you have intercourse, and you don't you something to prevent getting pregnant, you have a greater chance of getting pregnant. You probably have a decreased chance of getting pregnant if you have intercourse during your menses, but what I tell my infertility patients is to have intercourse two or three times a week after your menses stops, until your menses starts again. Taking that into consideration, and also taking into consideration the fact that sperm can live up to 96 hours in the fallopian tube, you're taking a big chance of having intercourse when you're not on your Menstrual period.
